HOW TO JOIN:
All you need to do to join is pay the standard club membership price of £7 and have bought your Students' Union Activities Membership.
Once you've signed-up by contacting suzette_86@hotmail.co.uk, in order to be allowed out on the water, you need to pass a short swim test, which covers treading water and a 100m swim.
That covers all the formalities, now you can start having fun! If you're a beginner, your first sailing will be under close supervision of a professional coach (no greater than six students per coach). After approximately 10 hours of lessons, typically about 5 lessons, you should be at a standard (RYA level 2) where you can go out unsupervised.
If you don't have any of your own equipment or clothing, don't worry, we provide everything. All you need to bring is a towel and a pair of old shoes that you don't mind getting wet. We provide the wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet.
Normal price for a 2 hour lesson with all equipment provided is just £10. So a Royal Yachting Association qualification that would normally cost in the region of £400, you are getting for £50-£60 plus your joining fee, that is amazing value!
Powerboating naturally costs a little more, a two hour lesson is £45. This leads to a RYA qualification.
